Executive Summary

The GreenChain Innovation Hackathon brought students together at the Faculty of Economics, University of Montenegro, to develop technology-driven solutions for a more sustainable economy. Held on December 16–17, 2025, under the slogan “Decentralize the Future. Green the Economy,” the event explored how blockchain, tokenization, and Web3 can address practical challenges in business and society. The hackathon brought together five teams, each consisting of four participants.

Three teams received awards for projects focused on food supply chain transparency, environmental engagement, and alternative financing. The programme combined introductory sessions, practical workshops, mentoring, and final project presentations.

Purpose and Theme

The hackathon challenged participants to apply emerging technologies to economic and environmental issues. The programme introduced the fundamentals of Web3 and examined its relationship with innovation, sustainability, and the green economy.

Organized within the Web3 Innovation Hub project, which aims to strengthen regional innovation and entrepreneurship through education, startups, and decentralized science, and is funded by the European Union.

Winning Projects

1st Place – Team FreshCode

Team Members: Jovana Rakočević, Violeta Knežević, Marija Zejak, and Marija Golubović

FreshCode is a blockchain-based food traceability concept designed to track products throughout the supply chain, from producer to final consumer. The project addresses the need for reliable information about food origin and handling. By using immutable blockchain records, the proposed system aims to improve transparency, strengthen consumer confidence, and facilitate access to relevant information for inspection authorities.

2nd Place – Team GoGreen

Team Members: Anja Marsenić, Milica Čukić, Tijana Londrović, and Sabina Škrijelj

GoGreen App explores the connection between tokenization, blockchain, and environmental initiatives. Its concept focuses on using digital tokens to encourage participation in ecological activities and support engagement with the green economy. The project highlights how Web3 mechanisms could provide new ways to connect digital innovation with environmentally conscious behaviour.

3rd Place – Team Pinky

Team Members: Anđelina Knežević, Elena Bulić, Branka Radnić, and Anđela Nedović

Pinky addresses the difficulties entrepreneurs may face when seeking investment to establish or expand their businesses, particularly in local markets.
