About

University of Mostar (SUM) is a higher education institution, which organizes and performs university studies, scientific and professional work. It is one of eight public Universities in BiH and the only one where Croatian is used as the official language. The University is founded by cantons in which the majority of the Croatian people live. It consists of 10 faculties and the Academy of Fine Arts. Today, around 10,000 students study at the University of Mostar. About 25% of them are foreign students.

The educational process is conducted through the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level. University of Mostar is internationally oriented and its intention is to become fully integrated into the European Higher Education Area. Around 140 study programs and 13 postgraduate doctoral studies are offered at the University. We have over 650 courses at faculties that can be taught in one of the foreign languages (English, German, Italian...).

According to the World’s Universities with Real Impact (WURI), the University of Mostar takes 32nd position (fourth industrial revolution) and 101–200 (global innovative university). We have cooperation with universities from 47 countries and extensive experience in the implementation of CBHE projects as well as others financed from EU funds. We are a member of the most important European university associations. SUM is active in many research projects (Horizon Europe), and in a large number of collaborative development national and international projects.

The University of Mostar offers a lot of different study fields e.g. engineering (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computing, civil engineering etc.), social sciences and humanities (economy, law, political sciences, communication etc.), biomedical sciences (medicine, health sciences, pharmacy etc.) as well as fine arts (painting, sculpture, graphic etc.).

Project Role

The University of Mostar (SUM) is responsible for developing the local Decentralized Science (DeSci) research community, communicating and disseminating project deliverables and results, and creating a long-term plan for the exploitation of project results and a collaboration agreement for sustainability. This emphasizes SUM's role in ensuring the project's lasting impact and fostering a research community engaged with decentralized science.

The University of Mostar (SUM) has extensive experience in international collaboration, quality assurance, and curriculum development, with significant involvement in over 20 Erasmus+ CBHE projects and other EU-funded initiatives. Their expertise in these areas, along with a strong focus on integrating new technologies and digital transformation in education, positions SUM well to contribute effectively to the project's objectives related to Decentralized Science (DeSci) community development and the dissemination of project outcomes.
