Lecture and Focus

Zoran Balkic, Base58

The lecture was delivered by Zoran Balkic, a blockchain expert specializing in Bitcoin and mining, and founder of Base58.

In his talk titled "In the Field of DeSci," he introduced participants to current trends, tools, and applications of decentralized science, with a particular focus on its potential to transform research practices.

Project Activities

The DeSci MeetUp is part of the project’s ongoing activities aimed at developing and engaging local DeSci communities through regular quarterly gatherings at partner universities.

  • Introducing participants to existing DeSci tools and platforms
  • Presenting active DeSci projects and practical use cases
  • Encouraging participation, discussion, and networking
  • Strengthening local and regional community engagement

Regional Network

The project is implemented by universities in Mostar, Split, Sarajevo, Montenegro, and Belgrade, with the support of industry partners.

One of its key objectives is the establishment of a regional DeSci Network that will enable long-term collaboration and sustainability of activities in decentralized science.

Through the formation of this network, together with the development of a dedicated website, the capacities of higher education institutions for collaboration in research, scientific work, and technological innovation will be further strengthened.
